Established in 2007, Indextwo is a web design studio in Chicago founded by me, David Trang — designer, developer & web standards advocate. My work focuses on interactive design and media, with an emphasis in creating beautiful interfaces with simple usability.
Skills & Background
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, focused on Human Computer Interaction (HCI) from DePaul University in Chicago. During one of my college courses, my professor handed me a book titled Don’t Make Me Think by Steve Krug, which seemed like any other required reading material at the time. Little did I know how much this would help shape and guide my career path, leading me in the direction to make the web a better, more usable environment. I have had the pleasure of working with a wide-variety of clients ranging from small startups to multi-national corporations over the course of my professional and freelance career.
Over the years, I’ve developed a wide range of skills to facilitate my work. I’ve focused on applying usability and accessibility standards for solving complicated web content issues, while still trying to create thoughtful and relevant design. My expertise lies with standards-compliant HTML & CSS, as well as a solid working knowledge of designing with integrated script frameworks such as Mootools, JQuery and Prototype. My design process is heavily inspired by the use of clean typography and functional grid-based layouts.
About This Site
This is the third design iteration of Indextwo.com and the first complete overhaul since I began running the site. Initially, this site served only as a single-page design portfolio to display my work for prospective clients. As time has passed, it has evolved not only to display my portfolio and personal achievements, but also as a place to share information and resources that I've found helpful to my work in design. It is simply my attempt to engage others with a similar passion and interest.
