A Victorian Vision of The Wire

“The genius of The Wire lies in its sheer size and scope, its slow layering of complexity which could not have been achieved in any other way but the serial format.”

– The Hooded Utilitarian

I always felt that one of my all-time favorite shows, HBO’s The Wire, never got it’s full due. With such rich character story lines, I thought it could have lasted far more seasons than it did. Now we can at least imagine the show as a piece of serialized Victorian fiction. The show is incredibly smart and intelligent, one highly deserving of this Dickens comparison.
